AT&T Access More: How to Product Change After Signups Are Closed

With the holidays coming up, it is time to start strategizing about maximizing points earning during the shopping seasons. There’s a card that I have had my eye on for a while now that it is no longer possible to apply for directly, but you may have success in converting a card you already have! The card I’m really excited about when it comes to holiday shopping is the Citi AT&T Access More card.

The Citi AT&T Access More credit card is a great card out there, especially if you do much online shopping. The card earns three Citi ThankYou points per dollar spent on online retail purchases and at travel websites and one Citi ThankYou point per dollar spent on all other purchases.

This card also used to give you a free iPhone (up to $650) after completing the minimum spending requirement of $2,000 within the first three months of opening your account. Unfortunately, the Citi AT&T Access More credit card is no longer available for new sign ups.

I had been wanting to get this card for quite a while, but between other credit card offers and Citi generally not being the most friendly with approving me for new cards as of late, I held off.

Now that the offer is no longer available I wanted to explore the possibility of converting one of my other Citi credit cards to the AT&T Access more card.

I currently have two Citi credit cards open:

  • Citi Forward
  • Citi Platinum AAdvantage Card
I gave Citi a call with the intention of converting my Citi Forward to the Citi AT&T card, but was told that was not a possibility this was my first choice as this card has no benefits that are currently beneficial to me after cutting the five points per dollar spent on dining purchases around a year ago.
Following being denied for that change, I called Citi again to attempt to convert my AAdvantage Platinum card to the AT&T Access More. My first attempt was also not successful. It initially seemed that the product change would be successful, but was told at the end that it was not possible.
I decided to give it one more go and my third call attempt to Citi proved to be much more successful. I was able to convert my American Airlines Platinum card to an AT&T Access More card. I won’t get the sign up bonus, but I do a fair amount of shopping online and value being able to earn three points per dollar spent on those purchases.
My American Airlines card is still active until I receive my new card in the mail and activate it. I’m looking forward to increasing my points earning on my online purchases during the upcoming holiday season!
What credit card to you use to shop during the holidays?
