Chase Will Offer New Business Card – 80,000 Points Possible!

Chase is on a roll this year and has introduced yet another premium rewards card—Chase Ink Business Preferred.

The new top-tier card will launch some time later this year and will offer an 80,000-point sign-up bonus after spending $5,000 within the first three months of card membership, according to a Bloomberg article. The $95 annual fee will be waived for accounts opened at a branch. It is likely that the card would fall under Chase’s 5/24 rule, which prevents customers from opening new credit cards if they have five or more inquiries on their credit report in the last two years. It is unclear at this point whether the new card will eventually replace the existing business cards issued by JPMorgan: Chase Ink Plus Business Credit Card and Chase Ink Cash Business Credit Card.

Ink Cash card is a no-annual fee small-business cash-back card. The Ink Plus card is a rewards credit card that carries an annual fee of $95 but comes with a significant sign-up bonus and lets its holders earn transferable Ultimate Rewards points, which are more valuable than cash back. At the moment, the card earns 5x points per dollar on purchases at office supply stores, cell phone bills, as well as Internet and cable bills plus 2x points on hotel accommodations and gas stations (capped at $50,000 annually).

Well, Chase Ink Business Preferred is getting completely restructured with its bonus categories and will earn 3x points per dollar spent on all travel, social-media and search-engine advertising costs, shipping costs as well as telecommunications: cell phone, Internet and cable bills (capped at $150,000 annually). Not only is the annual cap on rewards getting bigger, but the earning structure is getting easier to manage – same multiplier on all bonus categories and a broader definition of travel.

As the competition among credit card issuers for that coveted space in our wallets heats up, there’s no doubt about it: Chase is grabbing the bull by its horns and offering more and more incentives to attract customers. The bank released the Chase Freedom Unlimited back in March, the Chase Sapphire Reserve in August and now the Chase Ink Business Preferred – each offering an appealing sign-up bonus, decent benefits and a significant return on spend in an effort to compete with other banks. Chase has not announced when exactly the applications for this card would be available, but I bet the bank will have no shortage of applications.
