For a while there, I was thinking I would try to get under 5/24 to get the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and 100K signup bonus. Eventually though, I gave up and upgraded my Chase Sapphire Preferred card instead.

Let’s face it; there is almost no hope of me getting under 5/24 any time soon. So, I might as well sign up for more cards, right?
While a few cards have caught my eye recently, I wound up getting the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard to score a sweet 50,000 American Advantage mile signup bonus.

4 Reasons I Signed up for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard
While I wasn’t really in the market for a business card, I changed my tune due to my upcoming travel schedule and the fact I want to start racking up airline miles for next year. Here are a few of the top reasons this card flew onto my radar:
- You get free checked bags on domestic flights. Just like the personal version of this card, signing up for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard gives you a free checked bag on domestic flights. Best of all, up to four companions on your itinerary also get this perk. Since I have several American Airlines flights left this year, this benefit will definitely save me money.
- The annual fee is waived the first year. While I’m not against paying annual fees, I like it when credit card issuers waive the annual fee the first year. This means I can at least try out the card for 12 months before paying for the privilege.
- I can always use more American AAdvantage miles. Although I don’t have an immediate need for more American miles, it never hurts to have more on hand. My husband and I plan to take our kids to Europe next summer and they could come in handy there. We also use miles for random domestic and Caribbean flights all the time, and 50K American miles will help in that respect. We already have around 150,000 AA miles, so this will bring our total over 200,000.
- You get group 1 boarding for yourself and your party. There’s nothing worse than being the last person to board a plane. I don’t necessarily mind sitting at the back, but I hate it when they run out of carry-on room and force me to check my bag. This has happened to me more times than I can count. With the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard, however, me and up to four guest on my itinerary get priority boarding on domestic routes. That’s not a huge perk, but it does sweeten the deal.
Final Thoughts
While the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard may not earn a regular spot in my wallet, I’ll put it to good use while I can. With a large signup bonus, free checked bags, and priority boarding, what’s not to like?
